I knew I was an alcoholic and needed to stop drinking; I just didn't know how to stop. It had been that constant in my life for so long; the thing I always turned to when I needed to numb out and escape. I called HEF searching for help. I met with Hanna and Moncia, and for the first time ever I felt like I was talking to people who understood me. They had been there and had felt the same feelings I was having. Today I am so grateful to have the freedom from the bondage of alcohol and to be living a life of peace, joy and fulfillment. When I started working with Hanna Fobare, I was 20 years old. I had just gotten out of treatment, had broken relationships with my family, trauma that I had just started to deal with, and emotional triggers that caused me to want to self medicate. I wasn’t in school, I didn’t have a job, and I was using any excuse I could to sail through life and take the easy way out.
Hanna offered me structure, accountability, and a routine. I had a weekly schedule that was planned out in detail to avoid being bored and feeling tempted to drink. I had someone to help mediate communication between my family and me. Hanna helped me find a job, enroll in classes, and went to therapy with me. She introduced me to other people in recovery and taught me that being sober at a young age isn’t something to be embarrassed of, but something to be proud of.
While Hanna was my coach, the team worked together to make sure I was taken care of. When I didn’t have a car, Fritz drove me to school and to workout. He was there as a second opinion to turn to when I needed advice and support. The coaches at HEF truly care about the wellbeing of every single client.
Almost 2 years later, I have a steady job that I love, all A’s in school, and great relationships with my family. I live a happy and healthy life that I am proud of. I know for a fact that I would not be the person I am today if it weren’t for HEF. HEF is truly an amazing program and any client would be lucky to work with them. ”
